Living a Balanced Life

So, it’s April 10th and I’ve lost a total of 83.8 lbs and I still can’t believe it. I’m really happy with my progress so far and I’m pleased with how long I’ve been able to stay focused. I’ve managed to steadily lose weight for a year and a half thanks to meal prepping and calorie counting. Even with vacations and birthday cake! I have learned I can let loose sometimes and still stay on track. The biggest goal – the end game – Is to live a balanced life, and I feel like I’ve achieved that.

The last few weeks were tough, I’ve had some events that have made it hard to stay on track. Luckily, each time I get right back to it the next day. The great thing about meal prepping for a long time is that I don’t worry about falling off the wagon anymore. It really helps me knowing I always have food prepped in the fridge that I just have to pop in the microwave. It also helps to know when my next cheat meal will be so I can remind myself to hold out until then.

Smoked Chicken and Yams

This week, for meal prep I made Turkey Pasta Bake. I just whipped it up in an attempt to clean out my pantry. It turned out really nice and was exactly what I was craving this week. Ryan smoked a couple whole chickens in his Masterbuilt electric smoker while I was at work on Sunday. So when I got home from work I tossed 6 HUGE yams in the oven while I prepped the Turkey Pasta Bake. The chicken turned out really tasty, of course. Ryan likes to use a yummy rub from Amazingribs.com called Memphis Dust, it’s meant for pork but we really like it on chicken. So, this week ended up being a super easy prep week. Sometimes it’s nice to have a break!

Turkey Pasta Bake

My goal for the next month is to get back into exercising and to drink more water. I’ve been doing almost no exercise since before Christmas and now that the weather is getting better I want to start. I’m hoping that the weather improvement means getting outside more.   • You made that sound sooo easy. I LOVE my food and that is a problem. I try to eat clean and healthy but it can get very difficult, especially when you’re cooking delicious meals for the others at home. I’m learning EAT all but control portions- that seems to do the trick. Love the tips shared!

  • 83lbs! You are kicking butt lady! Keep in mind you’re always going to have “off” weeks o bad days. But it’s the majority of our actions that determine the result. You’ve done and are doing amazing- keep at it and keep us posted!

  • So true, meal prep everything. I have lost weight over the last few year too, and it is so important to have a plan. Without a plan, you plan to fail right! Meal prepping has been the key in my success, and I am happy to say that I am almost at my goal..my goal is a little different, it’s more of a less fat goal since I lift heavy 🙂 Thanks for this.

    • That’s awesome! The best part about meal prepping is that it can work for everyone. Any diet/eating plan you want to do can be prepped ahead of time! I can’t even think of a down side 😆
